Shrek is the movie that is based on the life of ogre who after choosing to live a life for a recluse in the swamp. However, his calm is upset when duck starts a swamp where various fairy tale creatures live after being expelled by Lord Farquaad. The main plot of the movie Shrek tells the story of the adventure which is to rescue the Princess Fiona, who has a hidden ugly interior. This picture subverts everything that is characteristic of fairy tales and presents what could be regarded as an amusing parody of them. The plot is funny for children, yet is not indifferent for adults The main characters’ voices are performed by Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz. The voice of Shrek is projected by Myers as rough and growling yet charming, whereas Murphy gives an eccentric and humorous tone to the character of Donkey. Maintaining the unexpectedly and contending characterization of Fiona, Diaz comes across charm and complexities in her character.

Witches director, Andrew Adamson with the co-direction by Vicky Jenson proves good humor and fantasy aspect of the narrative. It is noteworthy to say that they manage to add revealing with humor which is successful as Shrek turns entertaining into meaningful.Shrek is filled with an outstanding soundtrack that augment the cheery disposition of the film. It is also worth noting that, ‘All Star’ by Smash Mouth and the other songs included in the film enhance the storyline in a cheerful way. The setting of the animation is as dynamic as the main characters because it is implemented to create the same playfulness as the plot. Beginning from the swamp where Shrek lives to the formidable castle of Lord Farquaad, everything has been designed brilliantly in the movie.

In the early 2000s, Shrek taught the most intricate and effective use of computer generated animations. As for the film’s visuals, the animated special effects are remarkable, making it easy to depict various creatures and magical elements.

As for the technical characteristics of the film, its editing is effectively done because it does not let the audience lose interest during the depicting of various incidents. There are transitions between scenes that do not interrupt the flow that was built throughout the story.

Shrek’s pacing is great, there is a flow between fast and more intensive scenes and slow and thoughtful moments in the movie that lasts until the very end.

The dialogues in Shrek are funny, smart, sometimes even witty, correspond to the humor of children and also adult’s perception of the events. Shrek, although now is an excellent example of an animated film, due to its focus on the usage of most famous contemporary refers it might seem cliché. However, the above elements bespoken do not have any major impact on the main ideas and humor in the movie, thus concluding that Shrek is a modern and mahinerd fairy-tale. And it is a rather warm-hearted film about accepting the differences and the self and others , set within a funny and adventurous context. Realizing the satire and the sincerity of the work at the same time gives the film the quality that will be familiar to any generation.
