In John Wick, the main character is played by the sensational Keanu Reeves who is an ex-Professional Assassin whose life comes crashing down after his house gets invaded, his car is stolen and his only companion his dog which is killed brutally. It brings him back to the group of killers and triggers a passionate desire for revenge on those who are involved including Russian Mafia. It has a hint of sadness throughout, along with constant action – this gloomy and exciting play makes viewers glued to their seats all the time.

Reeves’ performance as John Wick is full of charisma, portraying a man ready to avenge the loss of his wife and dog. Subtlety and rawness are brought to Watchmen by Michael Nyqvist as the villain Viggo Tarasov and Alfie Allen as his equally menacing son Iosef. Willem Dafoe also gives a strong performance as the character of Marcus, a friend of John.

The direction with which Chad Stahelski has enshrined the movie is also quite compelling as he has incorporated stylish action with realistic sentiments. His experience as a stunt coordinator is seen in the well-choreographed action sequences which the movie integrates in the stylish and meaningful way.

The music composed by Tyler Bates and Joel J. Richard supports the movie’s intensity in the action scenes as well as the reflections in the slow sequences. Journal The music contributes a lot to pacing and intensity of the film.

Jonathan Sela is delivering New York’s underworld and the elegance of action sequences perfectly. It is a neo-noir picture that uses shadow and neon as the film’s chief visual motifs.

The setting is solid and believable despite its element of fantasy – from the terrifying hideouts of the mobsters to the spacious decadence of Continental Hotel, which is itself the character within the narrative’s universe.

The action sequences use practical stunts and the digital component is kept to a minimum. This choice brings the viewer even closer to the raw feel of the movie.

While the overall pace and rhythm are in perfect harmony with the plot and style of the movie, Elísabet Ronaldsdóttir has ensured the Pacing does not slacken for a moment making the audience glued to their seats.

The pace of John Wick is gory but functional. The plot of John Wick is well balanced between action sequences and dramatic moments without losing the movie’s focus.

A good example is the dialog; there is a little use of dialog to explain what is going on as the movie unfolds. The script gives fans just enough to add to the depth of the world and the characters without being weighed down or cluttered.

Some call John Wick simple because in spite of having great action and emotional gut punch, the plot might be seen as being simple. Nevertheless, the fact that the story explores no complicated themes elaborated in a profound manner compensates for the simplicity of the movie that is good because the authors managed to concentrate upon other aspects. This is a film that grabs the audience by its throat and gives them emotionally charged scenes and dedication throughout, long after the credits have rolled.
