High-Flying Action And Comedy in 'Fight or Flight'
Fight or Flight is raising the bar for audience’s expectations as the show presents action-packed stuntery in combination with the element of comedy offered by the mercenaries. Set in the backdrop of an airplane, the protagonist, whose job is to capture the target he gets onboard for, is killed by enemies who target both him and the target alongside the same. The movie rolls from one action scene to comedy easily, making the watcher staying hooked.
The main character is played by Josh Hartnett which gives the needed convincing performance. The casts of Charithra Chandran and JuJu Chan Szeto bring something beyond the script to their characters that deepens the plot. Directed by James Madigan, ‘Fight or Flight’ is an excellent mesh of action and comic elements that is evident on the screen. This is a job well done for the director, in making sure that despite the rapidity in changing scenes, the movies keeps a continuity of ideas.
It is upbeat and perfectly matches with the characters, especially in the scenes that involves high tension and heightened emotions as well as action and pumped up energy. Regardless of whether the escalating conflict or the happiness, music plays the significant role in the films.
Concerning the visuals, the movie offers the outstanding action scenes combined with shake shots and calmness of flying. The look helps to convey oppressive atmosphere within the plane and openness of the outside world.
Cinematography of the airplane interiors is realistic, each corner turns into a fighting arena. One has to say that the mise-en-scène of the film very accurately portrays the intended setting.
It is also outstanding that fight scenes, the usage of computer-generated imagery, and the blending with live-action serve not as distractions but as additions as they complement the story immensely. The action sequences are vibrant, and the viewers become anxious about what will happen next.
The cinematography puts a lot of emphasis and time on comedy and continuity of the action scenes, which are perfectly cut with each other. It is extremely careful in maintaining the pace of the movie.
The pace is kept very tight, fitting an action movie but also taking short breaks in the character development and the humorous timing without making it slow.
The dialogues are sharp and both comedically and tense with the development of the plot and relationships between characters at the same time. It is very appropriate that the writer has chosen to combine humor with some seriousness.
That being said, ‘Fight or Flight’ does occasionally falter in the typical patterns common with action-thriller romances. However, there are instances where the show’s narration suffers a lapse but the lead actors and the script pull off most of it making it quite a riveting watch. To a large extent, the film is chock full of energy, good performances from the cast and sound direction that makes people interested; all these aspects combine to give it an enthralling feel that goes beyond the theater.
