
A Raw Tale of Justice and Family in 'Wrong Side of the Tracks'
‘Wrong Side of the Tracks’ depicts a thoroughly frustrated war veteran played by Jose Coronado who unwillingly slips into a realm of criminal violence when his granddaughter is assaulted by the local drug peddlers. The plot brings a mixture of action, adventure, crime, family conflict, and closeness, all aiming at justice. Subtlety it conveys raw presentation of the contemporary society with an edgy outlook towards the dark side of it as to how common man’s existence is tarnished by the criminals and how far he could bend the rules for the sake of family. The show’s fight against crime also brings a more realistic feeling into the show and puts certain action into the show into perspective.
Jose Coronado also does a good job perfectly portraying the anger and determination of his character in the show. The ensemble plays their part well especially Laura Ramos and Manuel Tallafé as the supporting characters portraying members of this closed-knit society that is plagued by crime. The directors have done an excellent job in handling complicated topics and being careful with them.
The music underlines the series’ noir tone, provided by touching, thrilling melodies that correspond to the events depicted on the screen. Music is also used to a great impact in supporting and bringing out the emotions of the important scenes.
The camera work is also very thought out with regards to close ups and shadowing to give a tense or intimate feel. The change in appearance beats Polaroid the beautiful but doomed glamour of the neighbourhood with its evil undertone.
The set is well done with much attention paid to details giving the avenue a raw dirty look that suits the plot. The urban setting adds to the realism, immersing viewers in the neighborhoods struggles and triumphs.
Special effects are used sparingly but effectively to underscore the action sequences, adding a layer of intensity without overshadowing the narratives emotional core.
Editing is crisp, maintaining a brisk pace that keeps viewers engaged while allowing for moments of reflection on the characters personal struggles and triumphs.
The pacing is well-balanced, taking viewers on a rollercoaster of emotions, from tense action sequences to heartfelt family moments, without feeling rushed or drawn-out.
Dialogues are sharp and impactful, capturing the rawness of the characters emotions and the gravity of their situations. The series appears to have an edgy realistic theme and issues that exist in the real world explored in the show.
Depending on the episode, there are times that the show seems to be quite cliché in terms of crime drama. Still, the feeling of smth familiar is not startling when facing such powerful characters and juicy storyline. Finally, The series is dramatic and sad, the detectives’ performance is impressive, the topics of justice and family survival are thought-provoking. It does not simply entertain but it provokes the audience to engage with society problems even after the film’s conclusion.
