In Ghosts, a band of recently dead spirits haunt an abandoned country house. But their peaceful existence ends when a young couple inherits the house and wish to make it into a luxury hotel. Being unable to leave the premises, the spirits must make their way through undead lives and the living.

Combining comedy and fantasy with exploration of themes of living together, acceptance, and nostalgia, the series does this beautifully. Said to be bringing a great whimsical tone balancing the absurd and the tender moments personally, it resonates emotionally; incredible performances are delivered by the cast including Lolly Adefope and Mathew Baynton.

Each spirit has a distinct personality, from the Neanderthal to the overly dramatic politician, making them endearing despite their ghostly forms.

Directors Simon Hynd, Tom Kingsley, and Nick Collett successfully create a cohesive blend of comedy and fantasy, sustaining viewer interest through both surreal and relatable scenarios.

The series features a playful and atmospheric soundtrack that complements the comedic undertone while enhancing ghostly themes with whimsical tunes.

The cinematography captures the essence of the haunted manor with clever framing and lighting that highlights the contrast between the human and ghostly realms.

The manors decaying grandeur is richly detailed, enhancing the authenticity of its haunted past. The design cleverly integrates historical elements reflective of each ghosts timeline.

Ghosts employs subtle special effects to depict its spectral characters, ensuring these supernatural elements enhance rather than overshadow the humor.

The editing maintains a brisk pace that complements the shows comedic timing, allowing each punchline to land effectively while keeping the narrative engaging.

With a runtime of approximately 30 minutes per episode, the series maintains a swift pace that leaves viewers longing for more, perfectly balancing humor and plot advancement.

The dialogue is sharp, witty, and often hilarious. By supplying depth to the characters involved, while getting across the situational comedy of the interactions between the living couple and the ghosts, it helps the show provide depth to the humor.

Some episodes of Ghosts rely pretty heavily on running gags that might not appeal to all. But these moments are few and far between from the rest of the engaging experience

Ghosts is a charmingly entertaining series that adds a twist to the would-be haunted house trope. Its witty scripts, and charismatic cast, and its perfect blend of comedy with fantasy leave a lasting impression upon the fans of the genre, thus making it a must watch.
