The show depicts Dexter Morgan, a blood stained analyst of the Miami Metro Police and a serial killer, who kills the criminals in the night. A strict code his adoptive father gave him Directly, Dexter goes after those individuals that fall through the cracks of the legal system.

On this note, Dexter provides the audience with an insight on the symptoms of evil, where the characters’ liberals and conservatives are themes prevalent in the series. that the grim mood sustains tension and, at the same time, explores some of the most essential questions of ethics and personality.

Thanks to directors John Dahl, Steve Shill and Keith Gordon, Dexter manages to successfully juggle between both extremes of drama and psychological explorations of its moral stakes.

‘The series’ score adds to this subtext by the use of music wisely to evoke the internal conflict of Dexter, and the generally gloominess of his environment.

‘’The visual elements of Dexter have the characteristic of a visual realism and powerful imagery and their combination is a vivid reflection of the main character’s struggle and the conflict between the two lives that he leads.

The geography of Dexter is accurately represented with locations seen in Miami mirroring the show and the mood of the story they tell.

‘It is always used mannered, while depicting apparently believable crimes scenes than overpowering the intrinsic psycho elements of the show.’

The style of editing in Dexter is more refined, that which perfectly builds up the tension while not compromising much on the inner character thinking.

The pacing is well done in terms of plot progression and build-up of psychological suspense; as one sees Dexter piece together, and interact with, the people in his life.

verbal communication in Dexter is intelligent and profound, as it exposes the characters’ intentions and moral dilemmas, and-scripts witty, though dark, humor considering Dexter’s perception of the world.

Nonetheless, there are moments in Dexter wherein it can become quite inconsistent with other story arcs that seem forced. Certain seasons are unsteady and can be boring at some points, but the characters are intriguing, which helps to make up for a weak storyline most of the time.

It became for me one of the most memorable TV shows, as Dexter has successfully encapsulated and pulled me into its complex moral setting. In my case, it significantly impacted the perceptions of justice and morality stating the shades of grey present in people. However, more often than not, the series manages to strike the right balance between suspense, emotion, as well as moral questions, making it quite a thrilling watch.
