Anora portrays a sex worker young woman from Brooklyn who mysteriously marries a Russian oligarch’s son. Soon, their rather passionate love, their passion is disturbed when Yasha’s parents arrive from Russia to cancel the wedding.

The love, identity and the pressure that the society places on someone are the issues that are seen to be dominant in Anora. The vicinity between comedy and drama giving a consideration of the battle in between dreams and reality.

There is no much depth required in the character of Anora played by Mikey Madison but still she has done a great job by portraying the role with depth and the vulnerability of character. Vanya is portrayed perfectly by Mark Eydelshteyn in addition to her as a character of a lost and rich woman. The other characters enhance this complex plot described in this carefully woven story.

The directing of Sean Baker is complex and versatile, and he managed to show the audience the story full of numerous and powerful emotions. The fact that he combines comedy and realism makes for an entertaining movie experience.

‘Just like the story of Anora, the music resonates with modern theme and orchestral notes during the important scenes of the movie and provide profound emotions to the characters.

‘’Bright and truthful, videography reproduces energetic spirit of Brooklyn and contrasted with smoothly opulent oligarch’s environment, not only the cinematography attempted to bring the audience two different but interesting worlds.

A special attention is paid to production design, which convincingly represents socially and economically target setting of Anora living in Brooklyn and luxurious apartments.

‘Again, the movie is not so dependent on post-technology, but for facilitates, amplifying scenes, the male and female characters’ facial expressions and tender interactions are utilized.

‘The editing is efficient, clear, and maintains an energetic tempo of constant motion but without tiring – or forgetting the viewers – of the need for the performance’s emotional impact.’

In fact, Anora’s speed is intermediate between furious forward movement and ponderous stops, which are good for revealing the characters’ feelings.

Speaking is focused, intelligent, and quite moving; much contributes to character growth and reflects the movie’s loveidentity motifs.

I would one more thing to note – Anora is very narrative, although at some points it can become inconsistent as comedy suddenly turns to drama, or vice versa. These moments are balanced with others that deliver the more profound emotion of a film.

The movie Anora is a rather inspiring and inspirational film, which focuses on emotions and feelings of viewers. On a personal interest it provokes the audience to think about love, norms, relations and so on.
