Leave the World Behind - Movie Review

In Leave the World Behind a family is trapped in a vacation since their electronic gadgets are compromised by a cyberattack. Two more strangers come in with grim information of the breakdown of society, which aggravates the situation more. When the modern technology thus ceases to work for the family, they are forced to more about an unfamiliar danger without a communication that turns their escape into people’s maze of trust and existence.

The movie revolves around the setting of the modern societal collapse with suspense that casts an ominous feel. It doubts the possibility of our comfortable and safe life and the stability of civilization, it tells a truly compelling story, engaging the audience with its suspense and outlooks.

Although the film does not callback special effects there are definite techniques used to build the vulnerabilities of the protagonist, ominous sounds that hint at the danger in a scene.

The scenes are well constructed and the narrative never loses the tension. The use of transitions from one scene to another helps to keep the narrative flowing and the audience interested.

The film itself was shot with continuity in mind and there is considerable time to slowly ramp up tension. Some may argue that the pace is intentionally slow, but it definitely adds to the psychological aspect and suspense of the movie.
