La Dolce Villa: A Romantic Journey Through Italy
The comedy movie La Dolce Villa revolves around a man who is a successful businessman expecting to persuade his daughter to drop an idea of investing in an old villa in Italy. But love affair does not end here because some romantic twists are intertwined to the theme of the villa restoration. The movie succeeds in portraying the idea of the beginning and love at first sight.. It has this comedic feel, it is funny and heartwarming, like a romantic movie yet more mature with an Italian twist. The film continues to be delightful throughout its duration, as it focuses on humor and emotionally touching scenes It is worth mentioning that Scott Foley does a good job as the concerned father, and Maia Reficco is lively as the daughter. I also enjoyed the performance of all the cast members, particularly in the romance aspect of the show. Supported by Violante Placido and Giuseppe Futia, the movie has much charm added to it.
The director Mark Waters does a great job in the visualization of the light comedy romance and the picturesque Italian painting in the movie is well portrayed to the viewers. The soundtracks that accompany it bring an allure of its own; it goes hand in hand with the visuals which makes the view of Italy and the villa captivating. The scenes of sunny vistas and lovely architecture create such a vivid bonus to the show and to tempt people to take a closer look at aesthetically stunning pictures.
The interiors and exteriors of the villa are well depicted with detail and beauty and give the impression of being realistic though painted with remarkable glamour. The cinematography works astonishingly well in recreating the Italian landscape and thus contributes to the movie’s appeal as much as the plot does.
The special effects are not quite remarkable, but are not a distraction; they help maintain the mood of the film. Technical features are mostly understated with no aspect drawing attention from the intended themes, romance, and comedy in the film.
The scenes in La Dolce Villa are well joined and do not abruptly progress from one scene to the other. One very notable feature of the movie is the integration of humorous scenes and romantic scenes with the latter having no interruption of the former. One can easily note that the comedies are timed properly and for the romantic scenes, the pace is leisurely, savoring the moment, as it permits the audience to enjoy every tender scene. It penetrates the ideologies of a romantic comedy by applying comedy and emotion into each interaction which advances the plot. It reproduces the emotions and feelings of a typical romantic-comedy in a believable and believable level of naturalness.
At the same time, while the film does a good job in emulating an authentic romantic-comedy experience, throws to clichés that are characteristic of the genre. Some realistic characters could have developed in the minor episodes of the story to make them more interesting. But, it will chime a bell to anyone who has had their romance discovered in the most unlikely places, leaving with a sweet flavor. Nonetheless, it contains some stereotypical comedy but it is a perfect movie to watch during some quality movie time.
