Review of 'Green and Gold': A Cinematic Touchdown
In Green and Gold we follow dairy farmer Buck as he stakes his all on the Green Bay Packers winning the Championship. But his granddaughter’s ambition to be a musician plays an equal part in the narrative, as his family struggles to keep their land and keep their legacy.
Its about a family who fight to keep their land and their legacy. He fine balances the tension of high stakes gambles with heartfelt family moments, and you know it’s the warm tone and the magic.
Craig T. Nelson as Buck is also very compelling in that role to express the grit and vulnerability. His granddaughter, Madison Lawlor, plays it youthful and rebellious but also loyal as the family mans grandchild. Anders Lindwall’s way of directing the film further highlights the film’s emotional core by equally weaving the personal stories with the wider community stories.
It is the cast that collectively brings such authenticity into their roles. The intimate family drama as well as those broad climatic stakes harmoniously coexist in his vision; music is both a plot device and a background enhancer.
