The Fall Guy has a lot of energy; the film is full of energetic action sequences, but also has a lot of moments for contemplation. The pacing is impeccable and never does the show dance on the edge of tediousness or frantically speed through a scene. This gives both the clashmanship and the passion all the room they need.
The performances are well written, full of humor and the dramatic flair of the actual clash is offset with some moments of light-heartedness. Well timed dialogues and comic timing propels characterization forward further strengthening the emotional pitch and making the film more realistic.
While the style of the movie is very well packed blending out different genres and spectacular stunt sequences some of the themes could have been developed in a better way. Once in a while, this grows a little too heavy on the sides of spectacle rather than substance.
