A Heartwarming Exploration of Friendship and Quirky Charm in "New Girl"
When their coupling ends, independent girl Jess – an excellent actress Zooey Deschanel-) rents an apartment in the same house with three single guys. And her new flatmates are the bitter Nick, the gay Schmidt and the ex-jock Winston. In combination, they experience the best and the worst in relationships and the process of becoming an adult, making a perfect sitcom about friendship and evolution. It can be noted that the major theme of development of the main characters and the quest for their identity and recognition is built into the comical arcs, thus, the story is an elaboration of a comic strip containing meaningful feelings and true emotions. While it explores certain raw characteristics of some of the characters, it is humorously toned all through |Zooey Deschanel is the standout cast depicting Jess as a charming and cheesy character. Aiding her is a nearly perfect cast, including Jake Johnson as the hilarious and bitter Nick, Max Greenfield as an always evolving Schmidt, and Lamorne Morris as the adorable Winston. Even with the vast range of characters, each is unique and lively, portraying the conundrum of friendship and living together perfectly.
The directors Trent O’Donnell, Erin O’Malley, and Jake Kasdan tried to mix comedy with emotions predominantly successfully. Their direction guarantees that the interactions of the cast are sincere and the scenarios are entertaining but not boring for as long as they retain their humor. The songs and musics which include Jess’s songs at random are so funny and competent to make the comedy episode more lovely and lovable one .
Vivid colors used in the series and close up shots are used to exaggerate the comedy and also to make emphasis on personal relationships in the show. The ownership of the common loft area is brilliant most especially because the show revolves around people who are living collectively.
One only imagines that the residents of the house strive to make the small spaces comfortable and homey – true to the personalities assigned to the characters. It provides a clean and attractive backdrop for the cast as well as one of the characters itself
While New Girl focuses on characters and script the occasional practical jokes and body comedy is enhanced with the help of some effects which are funny enough to be noticed but not enough to divert focus from the show
The look feel and editing of the entire series gives the series a vigourous touch and timing of the comedy is perfect. There are many fast moving scenes, transitioning, and even montage sequences to keep the audience intact, however there are still slow and serious scenes for character development. Still, it intertwines it with more Turnbull sobre reflections so that there is a good measure of comedy offset with deep moments that create change and character development.
Most of the dialogues in New Girl are humorous while being realistic to the characters’ personalities. Bitting teasing and often tender between the roommates is organic and enhances the comedy of the situations presented and the growth of characters.
Although New Girl shines brightly with the humor and warm emotion, at times it goes through predictable patterns typical to sitcoms. What is debatable here is just how much of the ‘quirky girl in the big city’ premise is laid on, but all three plots progress into more nuanced territories that mark the show out as different.
Getting up to date with ‘New Girl’ is like coming straight back to your group of friends, where there’s plenty of laughter and each episode, a feeling of coming home. Season one showcases superb writing and the characters leave a lasting impression that assures audiences that watching the show is a delightful experience, the theme of true friendship wins over viewer’s hearts.
