A Heartfelt Journey in 'The Straight Story'
At age 73, Alvin Straight, tries to make peace with his estranged, ailing, 79-year-old brother after a generation of distance, by taking a 320 mile journey from Iowa to Wisconsin on a riding lawnmower. With personal and physical challenges overcoming him, Alvin is a profound exploration of character and perseverance, as well as prominent themes of reconciliation, and determination, and the passing of time. The film is also contemplative, consisting of simplicity and the emotional journey that Alvin goes through. As his last film, Richard Farnsworth gives a heartfelt performance as Alvin Straight.

Though it’s simplistic and handwoven through its heartfelt storytelling, it serves as a testament to human spirit and reconciliation. Should be a must watch for its emotional depth and Richard Farnsworths unforgettable final performance.
