Harry Potter is an 11 years old boy, who lives with his bad relatives after being an orphan and he finds out that he is a wizard. With his real birthday NOW known only to Hagrid who takes him directly to Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, he discovers who he is while also finding new friends enemies and some of the unpleasant sides of the magical world.

The movie is filled with such ideas as friendship, courage, fighting against the horror of the unknown, all under the wonderful mysterious setting. The transition from skepticism to awe is made very smooth, and a magical world is created which portrays childhood and the looming threat of evil forces.

Daniel Radcliffe does a great job in portraying Harry Potter, the wonder and gravity of the character. I believe Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley give a great team and chemistry. Richard Harris looks wise as Dumbledore, while Robbie Coltrane is lovable and reckless in his portrayal of Hagrid.

Director Chris Columbus does justice to the novel and brings the magical experience on the Big Screen. It is also important to add that directing doesn’t slow down the motion and reveals the fairy-tale features of the wizarding world.

The music of John Williams is memorable as it underlines the magical notes of the story telling about a wizarding world. The theme airs the audience right into the world of Harry Potter Hogwarts at once.

Using cinematography the production brings out the glamour of Hogwarts’ dining hall, the mysterious Forbidden Forest etc. The lively and imaginative art indeed helps to illustrate J.K. Rowling’s universe.

The set design is strikingly accurately. Setting isnt just done well – it is done to perfection, where locations such as Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley and Quidditch field are cinematographically shot and leave one with a feeling where every corner discovered leaves one in awe.|In respect to special effects, the film is a masterpiece as it combines live shooting with computer generated images in scenes such as the Sorting Hat scene and Quidditch scenes.|The scenes are well chosen and well assembled leading to The story moves from one scene to another, without much coverage on any single scene, which keeps the audience interested.

The dialog is translated well and nicely translated that brings out the humor of the characters in the book. It is useful to enrich their personalities and interactions with each other, not to mention one of the film’s major quirks – jokes between three friends.

For a movie that is nearly a perfect adaptation, one might find some of these aspects oversimplified or some scenes missing in the film. Nevertheless, all these alterations are needed in order to adapt the movie for the better and do not seem to be very conspicuous when observed closely.

The overall experience of watching the movie ‘’Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,’ was quite magical as I got the feeling that I was being transported into a different world of magic. When the Girl stepped inside she was entering a whole new world where everything from the scenes that followed were filled with innovation and allure. The film awakened the childhood dream of an adventure and remained memorable.
