Moana is an animated tale that is based in ancient Polynesia telling a story of the assertive daughter of chief who crosses the sea to in order to save her island from a curse brought on by Maui a demigod. The voyage is subjected to the perils, mythological creatures, and the philosophy of the sea sail.

Such themes as identity, self discovery and conservation of environment are also incorporated into the story line. Moana is funny and entertaining but it is also serves as an encouraging story that teaches children lessons about courage and perseverance.

Auli’i Cravalho does a great job in portraying the character of Moana for the first time, and she brings liveliness and honesty to the role. Maui played like Dwayne Johnson is excellent mixing comedy and emotions in his character. Every protagonist and a cute animal companion, Heihei, adds to the character of the film’s movement.

Moana is directed by Ron Clements, John Musker, and Don Hall; it can be truly stated that this movie really develops the stunning and touching world. By successfully using storytelling techniques the directors reference once more Polynesian mythology yet set the tone for a more globally understood story.

Music is one of Moana’s strengths and the songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda are the memorable additions to the score which adds the deep emotional and cultural note to the movie. Such songs as ‘How Far I’ll Go’ do not become old and feel forced.

Moana’s cinematography is rich and colorful with beautiful focus to the lovely seas and the gorgeous moving frames of the Pacific island hence making the audience feel like they are in the real world of Moana. The most compelling aspect of nautical is that water is also presented as a character with personality.

The overall look of the film is creatively executed with the film’s Polynesian setting being designed to reflect the true essence of the islands and its motifs are beautifully rendered adding to the graphical design of the movie cultures.

Very striking is the animation: The interaction of character and environment is almost perfect and brings this mythical adventure to life. Seriously, the portrayal of the ocean particularly its unpredictability is one of the strong suits of the animators.

Moana’s editing therefore allow for a very smooth flow of the story and also bring out the emotions and adventurous nature of the story perfectly. It is fast moving and never dull; audiences will be captivated from start to end.

Pacing: Moana moves at a good pace and blends action with character development perfectly well with the audiences. Due to the film’s given rhythm, it is possible to give a productive work both to thought-provoking scenes and spectacular scenes.

In Moana, the speaking pattern is humorous and encouraging to watch because it moves the storyline forward and makes the characters bond closely. Humor and wisdom are evident in the movie and one of them is the conversation between Moana and the reincarnated actor Maui.

However, despite the wonderful animation of Moana, there are critics arguing that despite Moana is an excellent movie, it seems quite cliched and predictable, resembling many patterns known from he hero ‘s journey. However, by means of cultural perspective and a focus on the protagonists, it is far from being unworthy.

This is a splendid animated masterpiece, packed with both visual and emotional appeal through sending out a message of courage and endorsement of cultural heritage. They can tell a lot about power of stories and it should be considered as the modern animated film of the year.
