An estranged contract killer, Finbar Murphy, tries to atone for his sins in Spike, a small town in Ireland. He is lured back into the sphere of violence by dangerous terrorists and must face his past in order to defend his town’s people.

Speaking of justice and chance for a new life, the film is set in an Irish village. The theme of modern Western corresponds to the conflict of an individual with society.

Liam Neeson gives a tragicist’s part as a protagonist Finbar Murphy while other actors as Ciarán Hinds and Kerry Condon provide the great helps. This applies to all of the characters and the acting that itself goes through impressive emotional spectrum.

Starting with the direction of Robert Lorenz, the film is built on the string of tension and character development exploring the concepts of morality and redemption.

The music chosen matches the dark, yet unyielding theme of Ireland. It emphasizes emotion of scenes and adds to the flow of the story most of the time.

Along with that gorgeous visuals depicting Ireland make the audience feel more involved in the story. The use of scopes represents peaceful nature and opposite side there is the darkness within the movie.

The usage of special effects during the action scenes is good and does not overpower the movie’s dramatic essence.
